On October 7, 2022, the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT), the National Institute of Informatics (NII), the National Institute of Information and Systems Research Organization (NII), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFFIN), and the WIDE Project signed an agreement aimed at promoting collaboration and cooperation in the construction and operation of an interoperable environment.
Through the completion of this agreement, traffic exchange between the R&D education networks of the parties to the agreement and the external R&D education networks connected to these networks will be smoothly promoted and effectively implemented, thereby contributing to the development of R&D education networks in Japan. The cooperation items expected from the agreement include: (1) construction and operation of an interconnection environment for traffic exchange among NICT, NII, MAFFIN, and WIDE Project, (2) mutual backup of traffic among the four parties, (3) use of the interconnection environment when the four parties connect to external R&D education networks.
The Coalition of Interoperable Networks for Japan and International (CINJI), aims to develop the research and development education networks that have been promoting collaborative systems in the past, to share information on the current situation and future plans, and to promote and operate collaborative cooperation between international research and development education networks such as APOnet and AER, through liaison, planning and coordination. CINJI, as the host of APAN59, is currently preparing for the conference by holding Executive Committee meetings on a bi-weekly basis
